About us

For over 30 years, Van de Laar B.V. is one of the leading Dutch companies in the export of dogs and cats.

Like any certified Dutch company transporting and exporting livestock, our company is monitored and supervised by the "nieuwe Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit*". As of 2012 the General Inspectorate (AID), Plant Protection Service (PD) and the Food Safety Authority (VWA) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), join in a new organization, the "nieuwe Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit*". This new organization has as a mission to monitor the health of animals and plants, animal welfare and the safety of food and consumer products, and also maintains the natural law.

For us as dog export company, this means that every Tuesday, we get - required by Dutch law - a visit from an animal health professional to check the animals that are ready to be exported. Only when all conditions are met, the dogs individually get permission to be shipped to the receiver. While travelling we are also bound by regulations; rules for the transport of dogs in the Netherlands, the countries they cross and of course the regulations applicable in the country of arrival. Through years of experience and close contact with the relevant authorities (in The Netherlands as well as the countries we ship to), the cross border transport and export of dogs holds no surprises for us.

* The Dutch "nieuwe Voedsel en Waren Autoriteit (VWA)" is similar to the English Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and the French Ministère de l'agriculture, de l'alimentation, de la pêche, de la ruralité et de l'aménagement du territoire.
